Excellently written. One is pulled in from the first page and kept on tenter hooks until the final pages!
I have to admit to knowing the author BUT I am not influenced by that in my solid recommendation of this book as a gripping read!
If it were not I would definitely be saying so, and yes, I did buy my own copy of the e-book )
I am looking forward to Ben's next book and, hopefully, many more after!
This is the first book by Ben Lovejoy that I've read. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Something that makes this book a bit different is how the author creatively tells the story from both sides of the heist. I found myself alternately pulling for the thieves and for those protecting the money. As I was reading, I became concerned that the ending might leave me disappointed, only because I felt there were two competing teams of protagonists. However, I was very satisfied with the ending and look forward to the possible sequel.
I rarely quit on a book but I could only stand about 20% of the long and boring detail and dragging plot of this one."Get on with it", I'd say. But the narrative keeps dragging on with endless description of computer hacking techniques. Someone let me know how it ends....
I confess to being a bit of a techno-thriller junky, and when I heard about this it ticked all my boxes, often in indelible ink with highlighter...
It's well written, fast paced and essentially believable. That's important as suspension of disbelief only goes so far. The characters have lives and, though they're only in this one book together for a short time, they are lives you get to care about.
I don't have as much time to read as I'd like to, but I polished this off in two sittings. I stopped because apparently I have to do some work, otherwise I'd have gone all the way through.
Very impressed, and I'm looking forward to the next one.
This is the second of Lovejoy's novels I have read and I enjoyed this one even more. This is a really well researched book and keeps you guessing. Only pick it up when you have sufficient time (ideal for holiday) as it will keep you hooked. It's a great premise and the characters are well thought out and engaging.
This is an outline for a pretty decent story, but the storytelling is pretty much nonexistent. The author just goes from one long paragraph to another of descriptions of who people are and what the history of every element of the story is, without any artistry at all. Dialogue seems to only exist to string together these info dumps. The actual sentences are well constructed and the story seems to be pretty well researched, but the necessary novel writing skill seems to be absent.
In some ways it reads more like a screenplay than a novel.
Seems like an impossible plan that Mr. Lovejoy has researched well. Although hard to put down, it is a lot of fun to read.
